Thursday, 14. September 2006.

In the occasion of the Railways Day, on September 15th, "Serbian Railways" will officially open to traffic the repaired bridge on the river Sava, near Ostruznica.
In the renewal of this 658 meters long bridge, Government of Serbia and "Serbian Railways" have invested 250 million Dinars. Besides the bridge repair, the works have also been performed on the modernization of railway station in Ostruznica.
The works started on August 5th 2004, where, beside the Railways, participated several other enterprises: "Mostogradnja", "ZGOP", Institute of Transportation CIP, "Minel – contact line", "Most project", The Institute "Kirilo Savic", "Siemens".

With the repair of the railway bridge near Ostruznica, transit transport of international trains through Belgrade will be reduced for almost four hours, and dangerous goods will no longer be transported through central zones of the capital city.

Opening to traffic of this repaired railway bridge near Ostruznica, seven years after it has been damaged, will be the perfect way to celebrate 122nd anniversary of Serbian Railways.

Railway bridge between the stations Ostruznica and Surcin, on the line Belgrade Marshalling –Ostruznica – Batajnica, has been heavily damaged during bombing in April 1999. First, on April 21st 1999, at 1.40pm, the shells hit bridge piers and girder-built under frames; two hundred meters of tracks were destroyed, as well as the contact line and telecommunication cables; and two days later the first main pylon was torn down, and the entire construction, along with track ad contact line, ended up in Sava.
