SERBIAN RAILWAYS
38 more locomotives on Serbian rails
Monday, 25. June 2007.

“Serbian Railways” and “Koncar” from Zagreb have finalized the project of modification and major overhaul of 38 electric locomotives, which have already started operating on Serbian rails, said Nikola Tojagic, Director of Rolling Stock Investment Department.

The project costing 25 million EUR has been financed from EBRD loan.

According to the words of Mr Tojagic, the locomotives are 441 and 461 series, and have been upgraded to the “higher rank” (444 and 461-200), which improved drivers’ working conditions, since the driver’s cabs have been air-conditioned and equipped with refrigerators and hot plates.

The locomotives are mainly being used for freight transport, which makes 80 percent of the total work volume of “Serbian Railways”.
