On April 20, Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic opened the reconstructed and renovated railway station in Vrnjacka Banja. The ceremony was attended by the delegation of Serbian Railways with Director General Milanko Sarancic, Mayors of Kraljevo and Vrnjacka Banja, Milos Babic and Rodoljub Dzamic, media representatives and numerous citizens.
Speaking well of the constructors, Ilic explained that the Ministry would certainly support all the development projects of Serbian Railway Company.
“This is the only mode to reconstruct the stations all over Serbia, using railway resources and financial assistances from the Government. Beside the post office buildings, these structures represent symbols of the cities”, explained Ilic.
Director General of “Serbian Railways”, Milanko Sarancic said that reconstruction works have lasted for four months, and that the enterprise invested 25 million Dinars.
Upućujući laskave pohvale izvođačima radova, ministar Ilić je najavio da će resorno ministarstvo i nadalje podržavati sve razvojne projekte srpskih železnica.
“In the next few months “Serbian Railways” will finalize the renovation of several railway stations and health departments, while the station in Vrnjacka Banja was the first among numerous projects planed” said Sarancic and added that the approximate value of all civil works would amount 230 million Dinars.
According to his words, civil works at railway health departments in Mladenovac and at the Belgrade Railway Station would be finalized in 60 days.
“The second, that is the last phase of reconstruction works at the station in Vrsac will be finished in the same period”, explained Sarancic and specified that in the next few months Kikinda Railway Station would also be reconstructed, as well as the roof of the station building in Valjevo.
Director of Investment Department, Vladimir Radic explained that façade of the station building in Vrnjacka Banja was completely renovated, providing the “old lady” with new outfit.
“Civil works also included the roof, plumbing and sewerage system, central heating and internal lighting”, said Radic and added that the terrain surrounding the station has also been rearranged, making the station one remarkable tourist sight in Vrnjacka Banja.
