PERMANENT WAY DIVISION

GENERAL INFORMATION 

Permanent Way Division comprises the following departments:

• Maintenance and rehabilitation of bridges and small structures with spans up to five metres (culverts);
• Maintenance and rehabilitation of the track bed,
• Maintenance and rehabilitation of tunnels; 
• Geology and geotechnics;
• Protection of the track against vegetation and torrents;
• Maintenance of level crossings.

THE DIVISION PERFORMS THE FOLLOWING WORK:

• Coordinates the rehabilitation and maintenance works to be performed on bridges, small structures with spans up to 5m and tunnels, as well as the landfall and landslides remedial works within the railway zone;
• Monitors and analyses technical condition of the track bed and track structures (regular and extraordinary inspections);
• Participates in defining the project tasks pertaining to preparation of the investment & technical documents for rehabilitation of the track bed and track structures;
• Participates in the work of committees of PE ZS and its Departments;
• Supervises performance of works (repair and rehabilitation);
• Prepares tender documents and conducts public procurements.
